After 46 years apart, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan will meet for a new movie that is tentatively named "KHxRK."
In the first look trailer for their new film, provisionally named KHxRK, which the creators will release at 12.07pm on Saturday (we shall learn more about its significance later), Tamil cinema superstars Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan radiate easy charisma.
The upcoming movie, which is written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, is Rajinikanth and Haasan's first on-screen reunion in forty-six years.
Nelson walks up and down a hallway in the opening scene of the three-minute, forty-six-second video, undecided of which celebrity to approach first. He is then joined by composer Anirudh Ravichander, who asks him in jest to select one of two classical ragas for the background score.
Before the camera goes to Kamal Haasan, who matches him beat for beat as they criticize each other's shoes and jackets, the clip cuts to Rajinikanth, dressed up in a retro-cool avatar. Then, in a swagger-filled garage, the two head for a vintage Mercedes. "Who is the hero?" they question director Nelson in a playful jest when they are seated inside the vehicle.
In the past, Rajinikanth and Haasan collaborated on movies like Avargal, 16 Vayathinile, Moondru Mudichu, and Apoorva Raagangal.
The final movie they worked on together was Alavuddinum Athbutha Vilakkum (1979).
On X, Haasan shared the teaser, writing, "A special reunion with my friend @Rajinikanth."Every worthwhile adventure merits a sequel! Best wishes to @AnirudhOfficial and @NelsonDilpkumar.
