Smith Dropped, Livingstone! In England's provisional T20 World Cup 2026 squad, Brook has been named captain.

Liam Livingstone and Jamie Smith are not included in England's provisional ICC T20 World Cup 2026 roster, which has Harry Brook as captain.



England's tentative team for the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup, which will take place in India and Sri Lanka, has been made public by the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

The exclusion of youthful prospect Jamie Smith and batting veteran Liam Livingstone from the squad has caused many cricket fans to take notice.
Harry Brook, however, has been appointed captain. With the exception of the most recent Ashes series, the batsman has enjoyed a rather impressive run this year in Test cricket. 

England's T20 World Cup Provisional Squad

This is the whole (provisional) England squad for the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup:

Rehan Ahmed, Jofra Archer, Tom Banton, Jacob Bethell, Jos Buttler, Sam Curran, Liam Dawson, Ben Duckett, Will Jacks, Jamie Overton, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Josh Tongue, Luke Wood, and Harry Brook (C)

Additionally, this is the Three Lions' team for their next bilateral white ball series against Sri Lanka.

England has won the tournament twice: once in 2010 when they defeated Australia in the championship match, and most recently in 2022 when they defeated Pakistan.

On February 8, 2026, in Mumbai at the Wankhede Stadium, they will play their opening game of the 2026 tournament against Nepal. The game is set to start at 3:00 PM Indian Standard Time (IST).

Bangladesh, Italy, Nepal, and the West Indies make up England's ICC T20 World Cup 2026 group. Their complete group stage schedule is as follows:

Nepal vs. England: February 8, 2026, 3:00 PM IST (Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium)

West Indies versus. England: February 11, 2026, 7:00 PM IST (Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium)

Bangladesh vs. England: February 14, 2026, 3:00 PM IST (Kolkata's Eden Gardens)

Italy vs. England on February 16, 2026 at 3:00 PM IST (Kolkata's Eden Gardens)

The team's performance in the group stage will determine their eligibility for the knockout phases. Their and other teams' positions will influence the next schedule.
