Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar perishes in a plane crash

On a journey from Mumbai, the aircraft carrying Pawar crashed while trying to land in Baramati. He was traveling to his birthplace earlier in the day to attend four public events in Baramati that were planned in advance of the Zilla Parishad elections when the tragedy happened. The scheduled time of the program was 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM.On Wednesday, January 28, prominent Indian politician Ajit Pawar, who was Maharashtra's eighth deputy chief minister, perished in an aircraft accident. When trying to land at Baramati, the plane lost control, veered off the runway, and caught fire.

Two employees, a personal security guard, an attendant, and two crew members—the pilot in command and the first officer—accompanied Pawar on the flight. More information is sought as emergency response personnel raced to the scene of the collision. With six non-consecutive terms, Pawar is the state's longest-serving Deputy Chief Minister.
