In Mumbai, a reversing bus strikes pedestrians, killing four people.

According to preliminary information, a BEST undertaking bus struck pedestrians while reversing.



Authorities reported that a BEST bus was involved in a catastrophic accident near Mumbai's Bhandup railway station on Monday night, resulting in four fatalities and nine injuries. One lady and eight men were hurt in the incident, while three ladies and one guy were among the fatalities.

Around 10:05 p.m., the incident on Bhandup West's crowded Station Road was reported.

According to preliminary information, a bus operated by the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) project struck pedestrians while reversing.

According to early reports, the incident may have included four or five persons being ran over.

A police spokesperson reported that the bus collided with pedestrians in the busy area, triggering panic among those nearby.

Emergency response teams were promptly dispatched following the incident, as alerted by the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) control room.

Responders from the fire brigade, police department, BEST staff, and 108 ambulance services swiftly arrived at the location to conduct rescue and relief efforts.

The injured individuals were taken to a local hospital for medical care, according to officials, while updates regarding the victims' conditions are still pending.

The police have cordoned off the area and are investigating the factors that contributed to the accident.
